About Hans Vogl
Born and brought up in Germany, Hans Vogl may be a newcomer on the poker circuit but is fairly popular and has had a degree of success as well as an SNG player. It was in 2004 that poker caught Vogl’s attention while watching a tournament on television. This was at a time when Vogl was bedridden, nursing a torn ligament following a game of soccer. So he tried his hand at poker in order himself occupied. What started off as a pastime, soon grew in to a hobby.
Much of Hans Vogl’s poker expertise is self-taught and the bulk of his initial knowledge came from poker books as well as trials and errors. As a beginner, Vogl used to break even at low limits, but with time, as he learnt from his friends and fellow poker players, his game showed a marked improvement.
Hans Vogl then moved on from playing online poker to playing poker tournaments in Germany. Confident of his skills, Vogl travelled to Singapore, where he took part in the BetFair Asian Poker event held in November 2006. He finished 7th and won $58,000.
Vogl took 5th place in the Aussie Millions No-Limit Hold ‘em main event in January 2007, earning more than $AUS400,000. According to Vogl, bankroll management is very essential for a successful online poker player.
